Our first Boardroom Series webinar of 2024 takes the ideas of Iowa author Matt Booth and applies them to your library board’s work. Booth’s book, “Basically Incredible: Doing the Basics Consistently Leads to a Better Life,” argues that despite the complexity of life, it’s the simple and fundamental practices that truly make a difference. It is critical for trustees to understand the fundamentals of serving on a governing board—that’s where the good work of boards begin. But we’ll also explore how boards can move beyond the basics and reach for improvements in communication, in funding, in service, and in advocacy. About the Boardroom Series: In these sessions, we aim to inform and encourage Iowa library trustees. We present best practices and current trends in library board service. Participation in these webinars helps satisfy Standard #8: “All members of the library board of trustees participate in a variety of board development training each year”
