Request a State Library Card

Complete the form below and click "Submit." State Library staff will process your application and send an email with your barcode number, username, and password. If you do not receive an email, check your spam folder or contact information.services@iowa.gov. A paper card will also be mailed to the address you provided.

State Library Cards & Bridges

Please note that State Library Cards do not grant access to ebooks and audiobooks via Bridges or the Libby app. Contact your local public library to find out how to access Bridges or the library's digital collection:

State Library Card Benefits

Anyone who lives in Iowa may apply for a State Library card. You may also apply for a card in person at the Law Library.

Use your card to check out materials from the State Library collection and access many online resources for both Iowans and state employees.

The State Library encourages Iowans to use their local public library as their "home" library. Find your local library.

Replacement Cards

If you need your State Library card number or lost your card and need a replacement, contact library staff.
