Accreditation issues related to Covid-19

Any services suspended during the Covid-19 crisis will not impact your accreditation status as long as they are restarted once the crisis has passed.

The following standards could be directly impacted by the Covid-19 virus. In most cases we will waive requirements that are impacted directly by the Covid-19 virus.

  • #6 - (Tier 1) The library board meets no fewer than 10 time a year with the library director or designee in attendance.  -- Our recommendation is that boards meet virtually when they are not able to meet in person. But meetings cancelled because of Covid-19 concerns will not affect your accreditation status.
  • #49 - (Tier 1) Library hours are posted and fixed. To satisfy this standard the library must be open a minimum of 10 hours per week and at least one hour during morning, afternoon, evening and weekend. -- Closing the library because of Covid-19 will not impact your accreditation status as long as you go back to your regular hours after the crisis has passed.
  • #54 - (Tier 2) Minimum days and hours of service. -- Closing the library because of Covid-19 will not impact your accreditation status as long as you go back to your regular hours after the crisis has passed.
  • #67 - (Tier 1) The library provides a summer reading program for children they serve.
The decision to suspend the 2020 summer reading program is left to the library and will not affect your accreditation status.
